At-Risk Youth

Actua’s Go Where Kids Are Program was launched in 2009 as a unique strategy to engage at-risk and underprivileged or marginalized youth across Canada. Through partnerships with existing youth-serving organizations, such as local Boys and Girls Club chapters, YM/YWCA chapters, organizations serving New Canadians and Family Services Centres, Actua engages youth who might not normally be exposed to such hands-on enrichment experiences, despite the availability of bursaries. These unique partnerships make it possible for us to reach youth audiences that might never otherwise consider attending a science program.

We now partner with many community organizations reaching over 20,000 at-risk or otherwise marginalized youth from a broad diversity of backgrounds through this highly successful approach. Actua is proud to build these partnerships, fulfilling our shared mission to support and empower youth. Together, we help children and youth achieve their potential.
