Spotlight: Take part in new Actua activities from our STEM booklets!
Here are this week’s highlighted STEM activities from the Actua network! For more content, visit our network member websites and Actua’s full library of curated STEM resources.
- For youth grades K-12: Get coding with our network member Virtual Ventures at Carleton University’s LEGO obstacle course activity. Code commands to navigate through the maze and get to the other side of your LEGO creation! Visit their At Home with STEM page for more activities!
- For youth grades 2-6: NEW this week: Actua at Home booklets! We’re starting things off with Astronomy and our Spinning Sun activity (p.24)! The booklets include a STEM activity, an exploration station and extra fun to keep the learning going!
- For youth grades 4-9: Our network member X-Chem Outreach at St. Francis Xavier University has created a tutorial to help you make your own bird feeder! You can also consult their STEM at Home video compilation on their YouTube channel for more!
- For youth grades 6-9: Prepare for take off! Fold ‘N Fly Paper Airplane Designs offers countless ways to make a paper airplane! Check them out for design suggestions, and learn how your design will impact factors like distance and time your plane will fly for. Once you’ve tried a few, you might be inspired to create a new paper airplane design of your own!
